The River View Island property is set amongst a wonderfully charming Mid-North Coast Shire of Tewinga, located a short distance from the historic town of Bowraville established in the early 1800’s. The shire was originally established on the timber industry, eventually moving into the diary and farming industries we have today.

There is an abundance of history and charm to immerse yourself in during your visit.

The Farm House at River View Island was the original Post Office for the Bowraville Shire prior to the Post Office relocation next to the Bowraville Court House in High St built in the late 1800’s.

Originally where The Cottage site is today there was the Tewinga saw mill, milling and log driving timber via the Nambucca River towards wharfs located at Bowraville, Nambucca Heads and Macksville. Children of the old mill workers would have attended the Tewinga State School where today the 2NVR Radio station is located adjacent The Old Mill Cottage.

Today’s River View Island is a beautifully manicured parcel of paradise nestled alongside next the Nambucca River surrounded the best that nature has to offer. With easy access to The Nambucca River via ramps, gravel beach and stairs, guests can enjoy some water side fishing, bushwalking, boating and camping. The Island is set below the surrounding tree line for that exclusive feeling of being on your own island set amongst canopy tress and creeks and history.

The Island is a sanctuary we take great care in preserving its beauty for us to share now and in the future.
